For food lovers and those enjoying the bars and independent restaurants now open at Sheepfolds Stables, this means that gift cards can be redeemed across the site at Ember, Vito’s Osteria, The Calabash Tree, I Scream for Pizza, Deep North, Spey Snug and Mother Mercy, as well as The Taproom and Back of the Pit bars.
The hospitality venue will join 200 other businesses from retail, hospitality and leisure to theatre, cinema, hair, beauty and more.
Nigel Wood, General Manager, said: “Sheepfolds Stables is a place that celebrates Sunderland, whether it’s Pit Pony, our locally-produced lager, or the line-up of Wearside acts we’re bringing to our stage.
“The fact that people can buy a Sunderland Gift Card, spend their money in the city, support the local economy as well as the venues and traders that are here on their doorstep, is a great fit with our own ethos. We’re proud to be part of it.”
The Sunderland Gift Card scheme was introduced by Sunderland BID and has contributed around £300,000 to the local economy since its launch. Chief Executive, Sharon Appleby, believes Sheepfolds Stables will help to boost that contribution.
“It’s the perfect time of year and we know that being able to spend the card at places like Sheepfolds Stables will prove very attractive to anyone wanting to give a food lover something special for Christmas – or for any time of year,” she said.
“Giving a gift card gives the recipient the opportunity to spend it on something they’d really like, while supporting local businesses at the same time.”
The Sunderland Gift Card can be bought in person at selling points in The Bridges, Museum & Winter Gardens, National Glass Centre, and Washington and Houghton Libraries. E-cards, which can go directly to the recipient’s e-wallet, can be ordered online or a hard copy card sent out.
Corporate and bulk buyers can take advantage of a click and collect scheme with cards being available in various denominations.
